Scenic knitting

We made it past the poo and the dust bowl, skirted San Francisco and headed to Mendocino. Our first visit to this small town on a cliff in 2004 left us wanting to return. In fact, the picture I used on the ‘About LtD‘ page was taken in Mendocino as we waited to watch the sun set over the Pacific whilst our bums froze to a lovely numbness. Seven years later we return…. well, better late than never, as they say. You know, ‘them’ – the 12 people who make up the stuff everyone says ‘they’ say.

Once again we stayed at Sallie and Eileen’s place, a sanctuary of peace in the woods about a five minute drive to town – total relaxation and a restful contrast to the bustle of Los Angeles. The queen made dinner after our arrival on Saturday night. Sunday we drove into town to find what? What did we find? I just want to see if you’re paying attention.

If you said, ‘knit shop’ then you, my friend, have passed ‘reading comprehension 101’. And the rule of thumb – when in doubt always say ‘knit shop’. In this case, Mendocino Yarn Shop. The queen was in yarn heaven and gave this shop two opposable thumbs up which usually means the yarn inventory is either extensive or interesting and the shop folks are lively and engaging.

Now, you get extra bonus points if you can answer this – what did eb do while the queen shopped for yarn? I’ll give you a second. If you answered, ‘went looking for a place that serves adult beverages’, you would be right! So smart. That’s what I like about you. And I found a place – Dicks.

After a day of walking around town, we chilled out back at the A-frame to rest up for our drive to Portland the next morning. I’d like to think it won’t take seven years to return to Mendocino.
